One Sunday afternoon, I took my third son to a shopping center near our house. There was an event where children could see a dinosaur. My son has loved dinosaurs for a long time, especially Tyrannosaurus.
On the way home in the car, he suddenly started talking about the sky again. Maybe seeing the dinosaur helped him remember something…
Son: Mom! You know, up in the sky, there were lions, cats, dogs, birds, and also a hippo dinosaur and a horse dinosaur! But there were many other animals too. We were playing hide-and-seek here!
Mom: What? You played hide-and-seek with animals? Were the hippo and the horse dinosaurs?
Son: Yes! But I don’t know their names.
Mom: When you say “here,” do you mean where we are now? Do you mean Earth?
Son: Yes! We came down here and played hide-and-seek!
Mom: Really? I can’t see anything … But that sounds amazing!
Son: Also, in the sky there was a cat with a broken leg. It went to a hospital.
Mom: What? There is a hospital there too? That’s amazing! It’s just like Earth.
Son: But we can’t hold hands with everyone there.
Mom: Why not?
Son: Because everyone’s hands are too hot.
Mom: Oh! I see.
Son: Mom, you were there too. With us!
Mom: I’m sorry. I don’t remember anything about the sky. What were Mom and Dad doing there?
(I asked this because I had asked him once before and I wondered if he would say the same thing.)
Son: Mom was studying. Dad too.
Mom: I see. You told me that before too. (It was the same answer.)
Mom: Then, did you ever meet Grandma and Grandpa in the sky?
Son: Hmm… No, I didn’t meet them. Maybe they were on the Rainbow Planet. Maybe they were resting there.
Mom: What? There is a place to rest?
Son: Yes. Before I came here, I was there too. Then I went down some stairs .
Mom: Down? Do you mean here, Earth? So there are stairs to come down?
Son: Yes! And then I went into Mom’s tummy.
Mom: How did you get in?
Son: I don’t remember.
Mom: I see.
This time again, he told me many things all at once. Since we were in the car, I couldn’t take notes. So when we got home, I quickly wrote everything down so I wouldn’t forget.
Now I learned something new: there are many animals in the sky too.
This might be comforting for people who have lost not only loved ones, but also their animals. Pets are family.
At my parents’ house, we also had many cats and dogs who have already gone to the sky. We have said goodbye to many of them.
But if they are in the sky, maybe people can play happily with the animals they loved again someday.
When I thought about that, I felt a little hope in my heart, and it made me happy.
ある日の日曜日の午後、近くにあるショッピングセンターで恐竜を見れるイベントがあるということで三男を連れて行ってきた。前から恐竜、特にティラノサウルスが大好きだから幼稚園からチラシを持って来た時に行きたいと言っていたからだ。その日、恐竜を見て満足した帰りの車の中でまた急に空の話が始まった。きっと恐竜を見て何かを思い出したのだろう…
息子: ママー！あのね空の上ではね、
ライオンとネコと犬と鳥と、それから、カバの恐竜と馬の恐竜もいたんだよ!でも他にも色んな動物がいるよ。
それでね、ここでかくれんぼしてたの！
私: え？動物たちとかくれんぼ？カバと馬は恐竜だったの？
息子:うん、そうだよ！でも名前は分からない。
私: ここって今うちらがいるところ？地球のこと？
息子: そう！ここに降りてきてかくれんぼしたの！
私: えー！ママにはそういうの全然見えないけどね…そんなことできるんだね！
息子: あとね、空ではね足が折れたネコがいたんだよ。病院があるから行ってたの。
私: えー？病院もあるの？すごいねー！地球と変わらないんだねー。
息子: でもね、皆と手を繋ぎたくても繋げないんだよ。
私: どうして？
息子: 熱すぎるからだよ。
私: えー！そうなんだ！
息子: ママもいたよね、一緒に!
私: ごめんー！私はお空のこと何も覚えてないの！ママは何してた？（前にも一度聞いたけど、同じこと言うか気になって質問してみた）
息子: ママはお勉強してたよ。パパも。
私:そっかー。やっぱりお勉強してたのかー、前に教えてくれたもんね。（同じ答えだった）
じゃあさ、お空の上でさ、ばあばとじいじには会ったことある？
息子:う〜ん、、、会ってないなぁ。もしかしたら、虹の星にいたのかも。そこではお休みしてたのかもしれない。
私: え??休める場所があるの？
息子: うん。ここに来る前は僕もそこにいたよ。そしたらね、階段で下に降りてきたんだよ。
私: 下ってここ？地球のこと？下に降りるための階段があるんだね？
息子：そうだよ！それでママのお腹に入ったんだよ。
私: どうやって入ったの？
息子: それは覚えてない…
私: そっかー。
-今回も沢山の情報が一気に押し寄せてきて、しかも車の中ということもありメモ取れないので帰ってから忘れないようにと急いで話の内容を書いた。
空には動物も沢山いるってことがわかった。
それは、人だけじゃなく、動物を亡くして悲しみに暮れている人にとっても良い情報になるんじゃないか？動物も家族同然だ。
私の実家にもお空に行ってしまった猫ちゃん、ワンちゃんが何匹もいる…今までに沢山見送った…。
でも、お空に行けば飼っていた動物たちとも楽しく遊べるかもしれないという事実を知った私はまた少しだけだけど、希望が持てた気がして嬉しかった。
