One night, as part of our usual bedtime routine, I was reading a book to my son before he went to sleep.
Then, suddenly, he started talking again, as if he had remembered something.
Son:
“Mom! Do you want to hear about what happened before you went to the sky?”
Me:
“What? What do you mean? Yes! I want to know!”
Son:
“Okay! But I don’t remember very much, so it’s only a little.”
Me:
“That’s okay. I still really want to hear it!”
Son:
“Hmm… You were three years old at that time. There was a boy named Sork, and you were very close friends.”
“And you had lots of friends, too.”
He held up all ten fingers to show me how many friends I had.
Me:
“Sork is such a cool name!”
Son:
“Yeah, it is! I think Sork was four years old at that time.”
“Oh, and you also had an older sister! Her name was Skoki.”
Me:
“Skoki? Did I hear that right?”
Son:
“Yes. Skoki.”
I started wondering…
What country could that name be from? I had never heard a name like that before.
Sork sounded like it could be a real name, but Skoki?
When something catches my attention, I am the kind of person who keeps searching until I find an answer.
So, I took out my phone and started searching.
Sork seemed to be a name that actually exists.
But Skoki…
I couldn’t find anything.
Was he simply mistaken?
Or was it a very rare name that I had never heard before?
Son:
“But that’s all I remember.”
Me:
“That’s okay. Thank you for telling me! But how do you know all of this?”
Son:
“Because I was your friend back then, too. But that’s all I remember.”
Me:
“Oh, I see. So you were Mom’s friend at that time, too!”
Son:
“Yeah! Everyone goes back to the sky again. Then we study, and after that, we come down here again.”
Me:
“I see! So we learn many things both in the sky and on Earth.”
I believe that what my son talked about that night was probably a time that people might call a “past life.”
Even now, I can’t stop wondering about the name Skoki.
Does the name Skoki exist somewhere in the world?
Or is there another name that sounds similar to it?

ある夜、いつものルーティンで夜の寝かしつけの前に本を読んでいた時のこと。突然にまた何かを思い出したかのように三男が話し始めた。
息子:ママ！ママがお空行く前の話知りたい？
私:え？なにそれ？知りたいっ！
息子:いいよ！でもね、あんまり覚えてないからちょっとだけなんだ。
私:いいよ！それでもママは知りたいな！
息子:えーと、ママはねその時３歳だったの。ソークは男の子でママとすごい仲良しだったんだよ。
あとね、ママには友達が沢山いたんだよ。
（手を10にして、これくらいって教えてくれた）
私:ソークってすごくかっこいい名前だね！
息子:うん、そうだよ！ソークはその時はね確か4歳だったよ！あとね、えーと、それから、、ママにはにお姉ちゃんもいたっ！スコキって名前。
私:スコキ？で合ってる？
息子:うん。スコキ。
-そうなんだ？どこの国だろう？聞いたことない名前だな。ソークはありそうな名前だけど、スコキ？？
私は気になり始めると調べて分かるまでとことん調べ倒すタイプだ。
携帯で色々調べてみたけど、やはりソークという名前はありそうだ。だけど、スコキはない。
何かの間違いなのか？それとも、たまたま珍しい名前だったのか…？
息子:でもそれしか覚えてない。
私:いいよ。教えてくれてありがとう！でもそれは何で知ってるの？
息子:僕もママのお友達だったから。でもそれしか覚えてないの。
私:そっかぁ。ママとその時はお友達だったんだね！
息子:うん！皆またお空に行ってそれからお勉強してまた下におりるんだー！
私:そっかー！お空でも地球でも沢山学ぶんだね！
息子はこの日はもしかしたら前世と呼ばれる時のことを話してくれたのかもしれません。それにしても、名前が未だに気になって仕方ありません。どこかの国でスコキという名前があるのか？又はそれに近い名前があるかご存知の方がいらっしゃいましたらぜひご連絡頂けますでしょうか？
