First of all, Google Maps… I truly, deeply depend on you.
I have been using you since I lived in the U.S. Without you, I am 100% sure I would still be lost somewhere. I have the worst sense of direction ever. Seriously. If there were a world championship for getting lost, I would win. (Haha.)
So to the amazing people who created this app — thank you. You saved my life. Many times.
I have three sons. When my oldest and second sons were in elementary school, they played on a soccer club team. Every weekend, we went to games and practice matches in all kinds of places. And almost all of them required driving.
Which means… Google Maps, you were basically our fourth family member.
Even now, I still use it all the time. I go to Higashikurume for work or events. My second son goes to a clinic in Mitaka, so we often drive there too. After his counseling sessions, my second and third sons and I try to avoid the super crowded Itsukaichi Road on weekends. So we go north instead.
And honestly? Google Maps is amazing. So helpful. So convenient. I really appreciate it.
BUT!!!
There is one small… tiny… dramatic problem.
When I try to get onto Shin-Ome Kaido.
For some reason, Google Maps refuses to let me go there.
It guides me to roads that I absolutely cannot enter.
Like… “Are you sure about this???” kind of roads.
And this always happens around Tanashi.
Now, how does a person with zero sense of direction know she is in Tanashi?
Simple.
I can see Tanashi Tower.
If I see Tanashi Tower, I believe I am in Tanashi. That’s my system.
It’s not prejudice. It’s survival.
That tower is my landmark. My hero. My emotional support building.
So please, Google Maps…
Next time I see Tanashi Tower, just let me onto Shin-Ome Kaido peacefully.
That’s all I ask.
Let me explain the situation.
Google Maps guides me through a very narrow road.
Then it says, “Turn right onto Shin-Ome Kaido.”
Sounds simple, right?
No.
The problem is — there is no traffic light where I need to exit.
Cars are coming nonstop.
Fast. Very fast.
And I have to somehow cross four busy lanes and turn right.
Four lanes.
Shin-Ome Kaido has four lanes, and everyone is driving around 60 km/h like it’s totally normal. The traffic never stops. No one slows down. No one kindly waits and waves me in like, “Please, go ahead .”
No. That does not happen.
So Google Maps is basically saying,
“Good luck. Be brave.”
I’m sorry, but… impossible.
I cannot magically squeeze through speeding cars like I’m in an action movie. I am just a normal mother with three kids in the car.
And somehow, this always happens around Tanashi.
Every time.
At that point I start shouting,
“Please give me a road with a traffic light!!!” (LOL)
In the end, I cannot turn right. So I turn left instead and look for a place to make a U-turn somewhere else.
Maybe the magnetic field around Tanashi is strange? (haha)
Google Maps…
Please don’t try to kill me.
Just give me a traffic light.

まず初めに、”Google maps”さん、いつも本当に頼りにしております。アメリカに住んでいた時からずっと使っていて、これがないと究極の方向音痴である私はきっと今無事に家に帰れていないことでしょう（笑）このアプリを開発してくださった方々にとってもとっても感謝しています。
私には3人の息子がいて、長男と次男が小学生の頃サッカーのクラブチームに入っていたのですが、週末になると試合やら練習試合やらで本当に色々な所に行かせていただいたのですが、殆どが車を使わないといけない場所だったので毎回”Google maps”さんにお世話になっていたんです。それ以外にも今でも仕事？というかイベントだったりで東久留米の方だったり、あとは次男が三鷹にある心療内科に通っているのでその辺りに未だに行くことはよくあり…カウンセリング終わって次男と三男で週末混んでる五日市街道避けようと思うとやっぱり北上することもよくあるのですが、”Google maps”さんが 本当に便利で助かっているのは事実です。
ただーし！！！ただしですよ？そこで決まってトラブルが起きるのが…新青梅街道に出る時なんです。要するに、新青梅街道に出させてくれないんですよ〜！！！（笑）というよりどうやってもでられない道を通してくるんです！！
その場所はというと、だいたいいつも田無辺り…何故方向音痴の私が田無をわかるかというと、何故なら！田無タワーが見えるからです！（笑）田無タワーが見えるところは全部田無だと思っています…偏見じゃないんです、土地勘わからないから助かるんです、あの田無タワー！！
どういうことか説明すると、まず細い道に通されてそこから新青梅街道に出て右に曲がってとの指示が出るのですが、出るところの道に信号がないので、バンバン車来るところをどうにかして潜り抜けて右に曲がるというなんとも恐ろしいルートなのです。いやー、はっきり言って無理です！車途切れないし、そんなところで止まって待ってくれる車なんていません。新青梅街道って4車線あるのですが、交通量も多い上に60キロくらいはみなさん普通に出されているんですけど、その中潜り抜けるの想像できますか？無理なのよ。でも、いつもあの田無らへんに来ると何故かそうなるんです。信号ある道通してくれー！って叫びます（笑）結局、右に行けないので左に出てどこかでUターンすることになるのですが、あの辺の磁場が悪いのでしょうか？（笑） “Google maps”さん、どうか私を殺そうとしないでください（笑）
